Climate Equity Campaign - Speakers Tour

Climate change threatens countries across the globe with more intense storms, flooding, droughts, decreased food production, water scarcity, and disease. The world’s poorest people will bear the brunt of these impacts, even though it is the United States and other rich countries that are largely responsible for the greenhouse gas pollution that causes climate change.

Aggressive and immediate responses to climate could still help reduce the worst impacts. Given the disproportionate role that the United States has played in creating global warming, we must take the lead in addressing the problem.

ActionAid has joined together with our partners in the Climate Equity Campaign to raise awareness of the links between climate change and poverty. As part of our strategy to commit the next US President to climate equity, the Campaign is hosting a speaking tour from June 2 – 9. The tour features Nnimmo Bassey, the Executive Director of Friends of the Earth Nigeria, and Mina Susana Setra, Director of International Advocacy and Foreign Affairs for the Indigenous Peoples' Alliance of the Archipelago (AMAN), based in Indonesia.
