ActionAid in UN Dialogue on the Right to Food
On August 29, ActionAid's Karen Hansen-Kuhn was invited to join Olivier De Schutter, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, along with other speakers from UN agencies and human rights organizations to discuss a human rights approach to ending the food crisis.
The event was titled "The Human Right to Food and the Global Food Crisis: Root Causes and Responses" and was broadcasted live via web-cast.

Karen Hansen-Kuhn meets a community in northern Ghana. They are discussing the promises made to them by the company that is using their farmland to grow jatropha for biofuels. They were told they would receive a new school, hospital and wells. The company has yet to make good on their promises, but in any case this community and many others like them cannot grow crops or earn a living. They will be forced to relocate.
