Over the past 2 years, Afghanistan has been impacted by several crises. On June 22, 2022, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck the central region of Afghanistan impacting over 30,000 people. This has come at a time when people in Afghanistan were already facing a hunger crisis, with nearly 20 million facing acute hunger and 2 million children at the risk of malnutrition. Coupled with a lack of health infrastructure, the earthquake is devastating for the country. Right now, those displaced by ongoing conflict, drought, famine, and natural disasters are arriving in cities without a way to pay for food, rent, or fuel to heat their homes.
