More than 900,000 people live in the camps at Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, including Rohingya refugees who were already living there as a result of previous acts of persecution, making it the largest refugee settlement in the world. Women are the most impacted, as well as those with disabilities, elderly, and unaccompanied minors who either lost their parents during displacement or were brought over by an extended family member.
ActionAid is on the ground delivering food, emergency shelter items such as tarpaulins, clean water, and hygiene kits to support Rohingya families. We are also supporting women with counseling, case management and other referral services in response to cases of gender-based violence.
