The tropical cyclone Freddy that hit Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi on March 18, 2023, has broken several world records as the longest ever recorded tropical cyclone and as having the highest storm re-intensification periods. The cyclone brought about combined torrential rains, gusty winds, and storm surges, causing widespread destruction in the three countries. Although the cyclone has now dissipated, the affected communities are facing critical humanitarian needs.
