Responding to the assassination of Haiti’s President, Jovenel Moïse, ActionAid International’s Secretary General, Julia Sánchez, says:
“We’re horrified by the news that Haiti’s President, Jovenel Moïse, has been killed. Political assassinations have no place in a democracy, the perpetrators of this murder must be found and brought to justice.
“We stand in solidarity with the people of Haiti at this incredibly challenging time.
“ActionAid is joining calls for calm in the aftermath of this terrible incident. Recent unrest, economic turmoil and rising cases of Covid-19 have left many Haitians in urgent need of humanitarian support. Our work to support the most vulnerable and marginalized communities will continue.”
