Commenting on the reports of an executive order targeting climate advocacy organizations, ActionAid USA’s Director of Policy and Campaigns, Brandon Wu, said:

“Reports that the Trump administration may target climate nonprofits and organizations working internationally on Earth Day are deeply disturbing.

Threatening the charitable status of causes the administration doesn’t like is a gross overreach of executive power, right out of the authoritarian playbook. This move would be an attack on freedom of speech, freedom of dissent, and the freedom of people to give to causes they believe in. These actions, if implemented, will be a devastating blow to organizations and people simply trying to make the world a better place.”
