Reacting to the Fiscal Monitor presented by the IMF on 23 October 2024, Roos Saalbrink, ActionAid’s Global Economic Justice Lead, said:
“It is outrageous that the IMF is once again calling for cuts to government wage bills as this will directly impact the provision of services in key sectors such as education, social protection and health. This will further expose women who are usually the first to lose access to services, lose frontline jobs, and take on the unpaid care and domestic work that arises from failed public services.”
