Israel’s devastating military assault on the Gaza Strip – deemed by the International Court of Justice to constitute a risk of genocide – has precipitated a catastrophic humanitarian crisis. This includes the forced displacement of nearly two million Palestinians within the besieged enclave, with reports emerging of Israeli plans to expel Palestinians en masse from Gaza. The orchestrated destruction of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, including essential services and facilities, together with the imposition of severe restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid, has
rendered living conditions in Gaza untenable.1 This is impacting women and girls differently and disproportionately. With an imminent risk of famine in Gaza, women and girls are expected to be hit the hardest. Women tend to eat less and last when access to food is restricted.
